State of Qatar
Bell ID® Identity Token Manager enabled the seamless migration from traditional Qatar identity cards to the new electronic Smart ID cards. The outcome of this 3 phase, 4 year project was that Qatari residents and foreign nationals were issued with highly secure, multi-application, contact / contactless smart eID’s. As a result of migrating all existing paper-based identity cards to electronic identity cards, the State of Qatar recognised the need to select a sophisticated smart card management solution to act as a central management engine for their 3 phase project.
Apart from issuing an eID that provides Qatari citizens and foreign residents with a highly secure ID document that addressed the concerns of national security, border control and identity theft, the Ministry of Interior also wanted to upgrade the existing eGovernment services leveraging digital signature from the pilot phase to full roll out by porting the relevant application on the eID network.
